Now, their sophisticated, soul-and-country music gets the right-deserved analogue-productions treatment on 200g Super-Silent vinyl. Hits like the most characteristic song on this record, "Do not Know Why" never sounded clearer or more sensual. You close your eyes and swear to be in the recording studio as an observer in the creation of the spell. The debut of Jones at Blue Note was flawlessly produced by the great Arif Mardin. Jones, daughter of Ravi Shankar, is not entirely a jazz singer, but is accompanied by some of the most esteemed jazz talents: guitarist Adam Levy, Adam Rogers, Tony Scherr, Bill Frisell, and Kevin Breit; the drummers Brian Blade, Dan Rieser and Kenny Wolleson; the organist Sam Yahel; Accordionist Rob Burger and violinist Jenny Scheinman. Jones regularly accompanies musicians, guitarist Jesse Harris and bassist Lee Alexander, as well as playing each song and writing the majority of the songs. Both have a gift for the melodious, simple but elegant sequences as well as moving lyrics.
