Description
For sale is Norman Granz' "Jazz at the Philharmonic," New Volume 5, on Clef MG Vol. 5, MONO, DG, 1955. WithDizzy Gillespie, Lester Young, Les Paul, many others.
SOUND: VG+/NM It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Side A plays beautifully clean and clear! Side B has a hint of light surface noise, very minor. Overall, the playback couldn't be too much better.
VINYL: VG+/NM The vinyl is remarkably clean and in beautiful all-around condition. The only flaw worth mentioning is a small speck on side A, which can probably be removed with additional cleaning. That said, there was no effect on the playback of side A, which was near-perfect. The deep-grooved, Clef "trumpeter" labels are glossy and clean, very nice-looking.
JACKET: VG+/NM Beautiful heavy cardboard, solid all-around, very nice condition front and back. Clean and unmarked, with only very minor routine wear/aging.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
A beautiful copy: jacket, vinyl, playback! Buy-it-now for $25.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
