Description

Selling my dad's rare, autographed set of "The Jazz Scene", (6) 78rpm 12" records. This set was part of a limited run of 5000 sets, produced by Norman Granz. It is hand numbered (#1074), and autographed by Norman Granz.

The albums are part of a Folio of beautiful photographs of the artists, along with articles about the artists and their music. Artists include: Duke Ellington, Harry Carney, Billy Strayhorn, Neal Hefti, Lester Young, Buddy Rich, Coleman Hawkins, Ralph Burns, George Handy, Charlie Parker, Willi Smith, Machito, Max Roach and Bud Powell.  There are additional photos of Many other Jazz greats, including Louis Armstrong, Gene Kruppa, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams, Billie Holiday and more!

The folio is in very good shape. The outside cover has a tight binding and no tears.  There is some fading on some of the printed pages.  The photographs are in very good condition.

The six records are in good playable condition.  Three records have some very minor distortion of the vinyl at the very edge. One record has slightly more distortion. (SEE PHOTOS)   I believe this was caused by being stored on edge for 50 years! Fortunately, the distortion is only on the lead-in to the record, and not in the recording itself.  Note: I AM NOT A RECORD COLLECTOR!  I will not attempt to "grade" these records.  I will say that they play without skipping and have only minor scratches.  There is a little popping/noise, as one would expect from 60+ year old records.

This is a rare set and will make a valuable addition to any collection.  This item is sold "AS IS" with no warranty.  I will, however, accept returns within 14 days if you are not happy with this purchase, provided the items are returned in the same condition as when they were shipped to you!

Please examine the photos and ask questions before you bid.

Good Luck!
