I have recommenced selling what remains of my treasured soul vinyl collection (reluctantly). I will endeavour to provide an honest and accurate assessment in terms of descriptions, but will be happy to consider a full refund in the event of any valid dissatisfaction. Where possible I prefer not to use the familiar record grading guide (such as VG etc) because they seem to offer little explanation and favour a seller’s perspective  – previous feedback suggests you’ll find the record is better than described.

They’re all in polythene-lined cardboard sleeves (with the exception of picture covers). I may have the original sleeve but please bid as though I haven’t. I’m well out of touch with the northern scene and will be largely guided by other sellers as regards what will be auctioned. Many of the records have my name written on the label (I know!) but all those years ago – longer than I care to remember – there was NO chance of me EVER selling them! I’ll confirm the exceptions.

I don’t want to get into leaving rigid or abrasive terms and conditions although I have discovered why some sellers get frustrated into doing so. Therefore, if you like to leave it a few days before paying / communicating, please don’t bid. I’m not a dealer and it’s difficult enough having to part with them (I despatch very quickly …. once they’re no longer mine I just want shot of ‘em!)

Please clarify any uncertainty about an item BEFORE bidding, particularly if you’re seeking to buy only original copies of records (you’re probably more likely to know than me!). I will only post items on a recorded / signed-for basis – please don’t bid if you prefer to chance standard postage …. I won’t!

I’m currently selling in multiples, some by label, some by artist and some assorted. However, some of my highly valued buyers clearly still only want to purchase singles (I can’t seem to get the balance right!), therefore I’ll be selling individual records as well.

I prefer PayPal but will accept postal orders and personal cheques. I will also combine postage with the exception of the 12 x ‘no nonsense’ packs (i.e just on multiple purchase of singles).

Sorry but the 12’s have unfortunately had to become 10’s due to eBay’s postage policy. The postage cost for 12 often creeps over from £4 to £5.50 odd. I do not charge for packaging.  

A really nice batch of northern dancers, which are all in outstanding condition unless otherwise stated:

Big John Hamilton – Take This Hurt Off Me – Minaret (barely a blemish

     on this sought after record. Has a really nice ‘B’ side too. £20 on the

     Manship site)

Little Milton – Let’s Get Together – Checker (classic northern dancer in

     stunning condition and £15 on the Manship site)

Jerry Butler – I Could Write A Book – Mercury (one of my favourite

     dancers from the former Impression, which is in stunning, near mint

     condition. Unfortunately there is a sticker on the flip side that I’ve left

     in place rather than risk damage to the label. There is no writing on

     this label though. £10 on the Manship site)

Minnie Riperton – Love And It’s Glory – Epic Demo (little know soulful

     ‘B’ side dancer played on the West Mids circuit (gleaming, barely a

     blemish)

Robert Parker – Let’s Go Baby (Where The Action Is) / Barefootin’ –

     Nola (well known double-sider in hmmm where do I start?! I’ll start

     by saying it plays much, much better than it looks! If you look at the

     piccie you’ll notice a peculiar middle. When I found this record the

     bore was almost half its diameter off centre and it needed some

     work in order to be able to play it. The centre was taped in place

     and frankly looks awful! That said both sides play bril. There’s also

     some insignificant surface marks)

The Nite-Liters – K-Jee – RCA (classic, popular instrumental in

     stunning condition)

Doris Troy – Just One Look / Jackie Moore – Precious, Precious –

     Atlantic OS (well known double-sider in stunning condition)

The Flaming Ember – I’m Not My Brother’s Keeper – Hot Wax (a fair

     few insignificant surface marks – plays bril. A small amount of biro)

Trammps – Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart / Inst. – Buddah

     (gleaming, near mint condition. The ‘B’ side was often played on the

     scene)

Shirley Ellis – The Clapping song / The Nitty Gritty / The Name Game /

     Ever See A Diver …. – MCA (not sure I ever played this. It’s in

     stunning condition with no writing on label whatsoever)
