Description
This is a RARE one, indeed! On Chattanooga's Hip Spin label (no 144), The Tenderonies perform Explain It b/w I'll Be There (Just Like I Promised).
The Tenderonies were young girls attending Brainerd High School. Both songs were written by Wilson Meadows. Wilson Meadows begain recording in 1958 (with his brothers) with their extremely rare first record The Vow on Chatt Records. Later, they recorded as The Zircons for King - Federal, Heigh-Ho, and had a hit on Capitol (Finders Keepers) in 1969. They regrouped as the Meadows Brothers and recorded for Kayvette and Atlantic. Wilson still tours and records as a solo act. Both of these songs appeared on his best selling Ichiban CD Memories in 1998. The guitarist on these recordings is the heralded Robert "Slim" Eppinger.
This is a rare local release. Interestingly, the publisher's information has been deliberately covered by what appears to be 1/4 inch splicing tape after manufacture. This would have had to be done by hand before distribution.....(Wilson has had trouble with publishers often in his career like many black artists.)
The record plays with some surface noise. Both songs are great with wonderful musicianship. Wilson Meadows knows how to write hook laden soul with pop appeal and intelligent, sexy lyrics!

I will email a short sound clip (mp3) from this record upon request from serious buyers.
