Oasis - (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? contact sheet
A first generation analogue contact sheet made directly from the original negatives.
It was from this roll of film that the cover shot to Oasis' iconic album cover (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? was selected and chosen.
Chinagraph annotations to the front made by the photographer Michael Spencer Jones
Signed by the photographer Michael Spencer Jones on the front in white ink with photographer's authenticating copyright stamp and various hand written annotations on verso.
In a pre-digital age, analogue contact sheets were made in a darkroom where the negatives were laid on top of a sheet of photo sensitive paper and then held down by a thin piece of glass and exposed to light. The exposed sheet of paper was then processed in photographic chemicals before being dried. The contact sheet being auctioned was created using this process.
A fabulous piece of original iconic artwork which will look great framed up and displayed.
N.B. On close inspection of the contact sheet you will note that one of the figures in the background was later removed on the album cover artwork.
