Description
ANTHOLOGY I (EMI 34445, UK release 3-LP set, 1995): STILL SEALED, UNPLAYED MINT.
Of the three Anthology LP sets, this one is the toughest to find. There's a good reason: Anthologies II and III were issued as LPs in the U.S.; Anthology I wasn't! Capitol released it in America on CD and cassette, but not on record; in 1995 the major U.S. labels considered vinyl a dead medium. Aficionados kept bugging Capitol for LPs of this album, so they finally imported 25,000 copies of the UK release on EMI. This is one of those examples, STILL SEALED!
The Anthology series brought us some great, previously-unreleased Beatles material, and the innovative cover art was crafted by none other than Klaus Voorman ("...we all know Klaus, jah?" -John Lennon), who famously created the Revolver LP cover and was one of the first Beatles fans outside Liverpool (he found them playing crappy clubs in 1960 Hamburg). Most post-1970 Beatles reissues aren't for shite (John Lennon offered to do the cover art for 1976's Rock And Roll Music LP, but Capitol turned him down, instead using the stupidest-looking cover art in Beatles history). But the Anthology LPs are terrific, and we'd bet 100 pounds that their value will continue to escalate, especially for sealed copies!
Don't miss your chance to turn the clock back 17 years and score this beauty in stone MINT condition. Actual shipping will be $6 in the U.S.; we ask the winning bidder to wait to pay until we revise your invoice. One only...
