O.F.I. / Opera For Industry "Hopscotch" K7 tape privately issued by the band (no catalogue number) in the UK, 1982. Original handmade sleeve. ****** Rec:ex / Cov:ex ****** Pre-Grey Wolves, pre-Irritant unit from UK that released some tapes under the O.F.I. moniker. Also known as Nail Ov Christ that released a tape on legendary Broken Flag. Offered here is their debut tape from 1982 titled "Hopscotch" under the name Opera For Industry (other releases were produced with the variation Opera For Infantry). This duo started releasing music in 1982, but I am guessing that they started hating years earlier. These tracks, totaling just over one hour, take the art and psychosis drenched industrial mayhem of Throbbing Gristle but trade the oddness of T.G. for complete hate, and add the vocal attack of UK punk. Truly nihilistic, frustrated and angry sounds.  I can't really be sure what scene they existed in, but presently these characters perform and record as Grey Wolves, whose sounds will more than satisfy fans of harsh noise and aural manifestations of rage. The title track "Hopscotch" takes the whole Side A and is an uncontrolled unidentified feedback noise continuum with occasional screaming. Side B has shorter collage tracks, concrete recordings, radio statics… in a word all the best that the early 1980s had to offer in the context of modern primitivism. Tracks on Side B include "Winds of Mauthausen", "Repetition", "Hopscotch revisited", "Playing With Fire", "Propaganda" and "Black Christmas". Probably issued on their own Anal Probe Records, the xerox sleeve with hand written titles do not specifies any note about the publisher.
