------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   MONTHLY NEWSLETTER April 2006 -   Hello, everyone! I've now got through my first month as an out and out ebay record dealer!!! It's gone quite smooth I suppose, as smooth as a new small business venture could hope for anyway! I've still got miles to go though - believe me, i'm in this for the long run!   I'd like to thank all of you bidders out there for helping me to get up and running - truly, truly appreciated. Kind of makes all of my trawling through the dark corners of the UK on the hunt for black slabs of history worthwhile (pays for the petrol at least!). I don't think i'm ever going to stop either, at least not until I find that elusive Would You Believe? LP by Billy Nicholls !!! (it's on Immediate, 1968 IMCP 009 - If you happen to have it, PLEASE, PLEASE sell / trade or whatever it to me!!! I would possibly sell my soul for that record!!!)   It was initially the hunt for THAT record that started me out selling LP's on ebay. I'd still definitely carry on now though, even if I found it! Listening to incredible records for a living??! ONE OF THE BEST JOBS IN THE WORLD!!! I'm not a MASSIVE LP collector myself (i.e I don't collect entire labels e.t.c.), I just mostly have VG copies of my true favourite albums (gotta dig that light surface noise, especially on howling blues or blistering psychedelia!!!). Of course, there's NO WAY that i'd rather have a VG "Would You Believe" over a mint one! But most of the time i'm not too fussy, as long as it sounds awesome. That's why I sell a lot of Mint / Near Mint LP's to you music lovers out there who will truly appreciate them and treasure them for eternity.   Anyway...Of course, every business starts with a few hitches, including mine. Out of the 100-ish records i've sold so far, i've had 3 or 4 returned. Not too bad I suppose, as you can't please everyone. But each of the returned ones I graded mostly around the VG area, and it seems that the general consensus was that perhaps I overgraded some of them a little (Near Mint is Near Perfection of course - I haven't had ANY of them returned to me at all!!!). I still can't believe that the returned LP's would grade as merely Good, but nevertheless, i'll be tightening the ship up on the well used records I sell from now on and will be grading them (still with the RC standards) a little more harshley, as i'm not happy unless you're happy!!! All of you!!! It's my mission to make sure that satisfaction is guaranteed with ALL the records I sell. I'm about to order a load of PVC sleeves and brand new inners too, so everything will look great and hopefully be 100% safe from damage when I send them out.   Other than those minor blips, everything has gone quite well I suppose! I suppose my listing dates have been a little erratic. I originally said I was going to start them each week on friday and saturday night 10 day auctions without fail, though they usually end up slipping to saturday and sunday night (it takes time to listen to 20 LP's a week!), but i'll really try and up the organization and efficiency stakes this next month. And I guess i've had a little criticism from one or two of you who may or may not think that my auction style is perhaps a little similar to a certain triple X guy??? ; ) I suppose my listings are MAYBE perhaps a little similar, but i'm only trying to put a bit of enthusiasm into my work!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully over time, my listing style will get more individual and unique. But hey! This is just the beginning!! Like I said, i'm in this for the long haul!!!   All the best my friends, and thanks again for your support!   Kai.   ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, and welcome to "psych_out!" auctions!!!

I specialize in 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between! I've been dealing records for years, but i'm new to the ebay game so i'd like to tell you all of my intentions. I travel all over the UK hunting out the VERY BEST records I can find. Obviously, 90%+ of the ones I can find are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? I offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!!

I'm going to start by listing 20 LP's a week every Friday and Saturday, all timed to end 10 days later on Monday and Tuesday night. Hopefully after a while, i'll be able to step things up a gear or two in good time. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZINGMOST IMPORTANTVERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS I can ever possibly find!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered", weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).

I intend to become one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically (on a very lightweight turntable) using the UK RC standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and i'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!

I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!

The LP :

Labels : Beautiful 1st Press Parlophone labels. Both sides are INCREDIBLE with NO writing, NO real wear, only a few ultra light spindle marks!!! AMAZING for a 38 year old record!!! Both must grade overall as Excellent if not better!!!

Record : Visual - Spectacular ultra thick 1st Press Vinyl!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny as if it was just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, it looks FANTASTIC with NO bad scratches OR groovewear!!! The only blemishes are one small non sounding scuff on side A, and the usual small amount of the lightest, wispy sleeve traces and mega mild hairlines (only visible in strong light) from where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! Of course, none of these ULTRA light blemishes affect play in ANY way!!! UNBELIEVABLE for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall as Very Good++ if not better!!!

Record : Audio - Fantastic stereo seperation and clarity!!! It really sounds amazing with NO hops, pops, distortion, clicks, or skips!!! Only the lightest ULTRA low level static (only really audiable between tracks) which nearly all records have stops it from approaching perfection!!! ASTONISHING for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall as Excellent if not better!!!

Sleeve : Original Garrot and Lofthouse front laminated flipback cover!!! Very hard to find in anything approaching a good condition, most are spent and torn due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP!!! This one is NOT and looks FANTASTIC!!! NO writing, NO stains and still strong, solid, and undulled after all these years!!! Only has minor signs of ageing such as a hint of ringwear, a small tear to the opening and lower left flipback, slight wear / denting to the four corners, and the usual ultra light creases from use e.t.c. Must grade overall as Very Good if not better!!! (apologies for any yellow light reflection in the pics)

Summary : A truly FANTASTIC copy of this ASTONISHINGLY RARE 1ST PRESS LP!!! Don't miss out!!!

I've realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine on the UK RC grading system - You can see where the LP fits in here:

MINT NEAR MINT EXCELLENT++++ EXCELLENT+++ EXCELLENT++ EXCELLENT+ EXCELLENT EXCELLENT Minus VERY GOOD++++ VERY GOOD+++ VERY GOOD++ VERY GOOD+ VERY GOOD VERY GOOD Minus GOOD++++ GOOD+++ GOOD++ GOOD+ GOOD GOOD Minus FAIR POOR BAD e.t.c.e.t.c....   I very rarely offer records below the Very Good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity...I hope this helps!

If you are not happy with your item, please let me know within 3 days for a refund. I pride myself on my 100% feedback so if there are any problems, I will do my very best to sort them out.

All my auctions usually start from a bare minimum price, so there is always plenty of opportunity for a bargain!
