London electronic mainstay Alex Paterson continues his long voyage with Michael Rendall, crafting another widescreen journey that balances playfulness with cosmic depth. Opener 'Spontaneously Combust' sets the tone with Steve Hillage's guitar and Miquette Giraudy's synths swirling over dream-house grooves, while 'P~1' pivots into drum & bass turbulence. 'Baraka' brings bleepy, retro synths, contrasted by the reggae skank of 'A Sacred Choice', loaded with contributions from Youth, Paul Ferguson and Eric Von Skywalker. 'Arabebonics' twists hip hop and orchestral drama into something uncanny, while Andy Cain's vocal elevates 'It's Coming Soon'. Elsewhere, 'Doll's House' pulses with hazy nostalgia and 'The Oort Cloud (Too Night)' dives into NYC deep house. With 'Under The Bed' and 'Kharon' closing in meditative fashion, the record proves the Orb remain ever expansive.
