ORCHID were an early "screamo" style hardcore punk band from Amherst, MA, that formed in early 1998. Considered by many to be one of the pioneers of the "screamo" sound, they combined a postmodern aesthetic with hardcore punk, releasing several now-hard-to-find EPs and splits as well as three full-length records. Orchid's influences are assumed to be Canadian hardcore band UNION OF URANUS and ONE EYED GOD PROPHECY, but band members more often cite the German bands SYSTRAL and CAROL.
Members of the band have also been (or are currently) in the bands: BUCKET FULL OF TEETH, AMPERE, WOLVES and PANTHERS as well as a host of others.
Recommended for fans of: PG. 99, CITY OF CATERPILLAR, SINCE BY MAN, KYLESA, PALATKA, SAETIA, PIG DESTROYER, CIRCLE TAKES THE SQUARE, HOT CROSS, JEROME'S DREAM, HEROIN and SWING KIDS.
