Description
This listing is for an Original 1963 Philles Records release of The Crystals album titled: He's A Rebel, Philles Records number PHLP-4001. This contains the hits the group had up to that time: He's A Rebel, He's Sure The Boy I Love, Uptown, He Hit Me, Oh Yeah Maybe Baby, There's No Other Like My Baby and also has some pretty cool other tracks No One Ever Tells You, I Love You Eddie and they even do a song called Frankenstein Twist among others. As Phil Spector and Girl Group aficionados know, He's A Rebel and He's Sure The Boy I Love is actually performed by The Blossoms and just credited to The Crystals. This was purchased many years back at the legendary Bleeker Bob's Record Store up in Greenwich Village, NY. The Cover is in a nice clean VG++ and is not graded higher for two reasons: there is a saw mark in the very bottom right-hand side of the cover which indicates that at one time this was in the discount bins back in the '60s at a records store and the second reason is there is a clean seam split/separation on the upper right side of the cover. The record is graded VG++ and not higher for two reasons: first there are just a very few, very lite thin surface lines I viewed when inspecting the record at just the correct angle with one small dimple of a vinyl bead that mostly but didn't fully melt when pressed. Second reason is there looks like an extremely very lite haze to the surface, not overpowering, but a lite haze which I viewed when tilting this in bright light to inspect which for these very early Spector pressings was not uncommon as Spector used subpar (cheap) vinyl and not the best pressing plants. Later pressings on Spector's Philles label with the Righteous Bros. releases had a much better shine to the surface but those Righteous Bros. LPs mostly still played like a typical cheap vinyl Spector pressing. The labels are clean and I did not see any spindle marks around the center hole. Shipping in the U.S. is $5.49. If you would like INS. on this, please let me know and I will check the rates at the P.O. which go according to your Zip Code.
