Description
Here is a mega rare vintage R&B album from my collection offered up for sale/auction: A SUPER RARE ORIGINAL 1956 Aladdin LP album by Shirley and Lee "Let the Good Tomes Roll", this classic is a 1956 "Microgroove" Mono original pressing and more than that, it is a very scarce Tokyo Japan pressing! I believe this pressing was made exclusively for U.S. Armed Forces stationed in Japan. The jacket has Aladdin 807 and LPM-1 printed on the jacket. The disc has LPM-1A & 1B printed on the labels. It may be the very 1st 12" lp pressed in Tokyo with this LPM-1 prefix!! "Let The Good Times Roll", the title track, went to #1 on the R&B charts and # 20 on the Pop charts. It was Aladdins' first record to enter into the Pop charts! these great self penned songs that have been covered by many artists including Elvis Presley and Harry Nilsson! This hard to find record has been well loved but still plays through without skips or jumps, still an enjoyable listen! The vintage rigid record rates GOOD+ to VG is clean and still has gloss, has many light marks, a few heavier needle marks, has been PLAY TESTED! Plays from start to finish with good sound quality, clear sound with some light to moderate surface noise, a few errant pops, no skips, no jumps, the great music still comes through! Still enjoyment left in this relic! The vintage silver and maroon Aladdin labels have the Tokyo Japan notation. The cover rates VG, is clean, still has gloss, bright colors, seams have been neatly repaired with tape, opening edge has tear to front slick that has been neatly stabilized (glued), back has some light age discoloration, old tape marks at top and bottom and pen writing, has vintage price sticker on back (see all photos). The US pressing has a book value up to $400, this overseas Japan pressing were probably very limited in their production! Will be shipped in a protective plastic sleeve inside a secure record mailing box with tracking number. Check out other RARE record gems on my seller's list!
