Hi All, the thinning out continues. I’ve sorted out a few more choice cuts in the collection for your consideration as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting. This time round we have for your consideration:
Title: THE REAL FOLK BLUES by JOHN LEE HOOKER
Cat No: CRL 4527 – MONO
Issue: Original 1967 issue on the CHESS Label
Vinyl Condition visual: The vinyl grades as EX; the vinyl has retained most of its gloss and sheen and is extremely presentable. There are no notable deep or unsightly scratches and the minimal of very light surface marks to the vinyl. A wonderful copy of what is quite a scarce JLH album and in terms of weight, this is a weighty chunk of vinyl.
Vinyl Condition Playback: The vinyl grades as EX; Almost silent at the run-in to both sides and thereafter it plays through with the lightest of mild static and a few random low-level clicks. Essentially there is no lessening in the sound quality or anything that distracts from enjoying this classic Blues album. The vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable and plays through with no skips or jumps. The disc is most worthy of its EX grade.
Label Condition: EX; Look at the phots, clean, unblemished and with minimal light spindle marks. They are truly stunning labels.
Cover Front: The front cover grades as EX; the laminated front is wonderfully clean and undamaged. It has retained its shape very well. The image is clear and the cover is clean with just a little ring-wear being evident and one mark to the left of JLHs forehead but this is minimal. The top and bottom edges are superb and overall it’s a beautiful example of this sleeve.
Cover Back: EX; the unlaminated back is in EX condition being super clean and damage free. The mainly white back is clean and shows very little in terms of age related marks. All the flip-backs are neat and solid. You would be pushed to find better.
Spine: EX; the spine is intact with EX lamination; it’s clean and all the text is legible and clear and it has retained its square shape and some pinching at the corners is still evident.
Corners: VG; minimal bumps.
Opening Edge: A few light bumps and dings from normal use along the opening edge but essentially it’s a fine straight edge.
Inserts/Other: NIL
Summary: Stella Mae, if I had my choice I would not be selling you baby. If you collect Blues and you’re seeking quality to add to your collection, don’t pass up this opportunity to pick this copy up. It’s in EX condition disc and cover and you will be delighted with it. Now where’s my harp mama!
Postage: With regard to postage, all records will be posted in 12” Defenda- corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me. Finally, I offer a no nonsense refund if you’re not delighted with your purchase, less postage of course, which hopefully provides you with sufficient confidence to take a shot, and if you do, good luck.
