Description
Hi All, the thinning out of my collection continues and I’ve sorted out a few choice cuts in the collection for your consideration as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting. OK for your consideration we have:
Title: PARACHUTE by THE PRETTY THINGS
Cat No: SHVL 774
Issue: Original 1970 issue on the Wonderful HARVEST Label
Vinyl Condition visual: Visually, the vinyl grades as EX-; it has retained some of its gloss and sheen. Overall the disc is clean with just a few very light and superficial scratches and the minimum of careful handling marks. These really are minimal and there are no noticeable heavy scratches or marks to the vinyl; overall it’s a strong EX-.
Vinyl Condition Playback: The vinyl grades as EX; almost but not quite totally silent at the run-ins, and between the tracks, however, for completeness there are a few very occasional low level/mild static clicks/pops – these are random but more noticeable on track 3 side 1. Aside from this, the playback is EX; the music is delivered superbly with no overall lessening in sound quality. The vinyl sits flat on the turntable.
Label Condition: Ex; just look at the pics. Aside from a few very very light spindle marks there is no damage, writing or unwanted blemishes at all to the labels. The text is clear and legible.
Cover Front: The front cover of this gate-fold sleeve grades as VG; the laminated front is clean and undamaged and has retained its shape very well. The central image is clear and the lamination is generally VG and intact. There is some laminate creasing near to the opening edge and some light creases near to the spine and a little light rubbing on the bottom edge. It sounds much worse than it actually is – all mentioned for completeness.
Cover Back: VG+; the laminated back is in VG+ and nearly EX condition being clean and essentially damage free. I say that as there are a few very mild rubbed areas but mostly minor age related and absolutely nothing too serious at all. Inside the gatefold is clean and damage free – it’s superb.
Spine: EX; the spine is intact, clean with good lamination cover with just a few minor laminate creases, but again all very minor.
Corners: VG; mild and gentle knocks but mostly retaining their shape, corners at the opening edge are more affected, a little loss of colour in places.
Summary: Those in the know are very aware of what a fab album this is and from one of our most underrated bands. Of its type, this album was equal to and better than most of the music produced and released in 69/70. If you’re a seasoned campaigner you know how difficult it is to find this LP in anything like acceptable condition. Well this copy is EX- overall and will enhance your collection. Good stuff like this, in this condition doesn’t present itself too often and it’s certainly going to get more difficult in the future. So here’s your chance to grab a very nice copy of this sought after Pretties album.
Postage: With regard to postage, all records will be posted in 12” Defenda- corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me. Finally, I offer a no nonsense refund if you’re not delighted with your purchase, less postage of course, which hopefully provides you with sufficient confidence to take a shot, and if you do, good luck.
