Hi All, I’ve sorted out a few choice cuts in the collection for your consideration as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting. For your consideration we have:
Title: THE BEATLES by THE BEATLES
Cat No: PMC 7068 – MONO
Issue: Original 1968 1ST issue on the APPLE Label
Vinyl Condition visual: The vinyl’s grade as EX; all sides have retained most of their gloss and sheen and are all very presentable and pleasing to behold. The discs are essentially very clean and show minimal very light scratches and handling marks; there are no notable deep or unsightly scratches or marks to the vinyl to report. All in all, these are very smart discs of a highly desirable monaural classic album.
Vinyl Condition Playback: The vinyl grades as EX-; almost but not quite totally silent at the run-ins to all sides, and between most tracks. Some very occasional and very low level/mild clicks/pops at times - aside from this, listening to it is a sheer joy, and the music is delivered superbly. There really is very little lessening in sound quality and the vinyl’s sit perfectly flat on the turntable and play through with no skips or jumps. Summary of playback: Sides 1, 2 and 3 VG+ to EX; Side 4 VG as there is some static and a few more clicks/pops.
Label Condition: Ex+; just look at the pics. Just a few very light and hardly noticeable marks other than that there is no damage or other unwanted blemishes at all to the labels. The black script is clean and legible – pushed to find better.
Cover Front: EX; aside from obvious age related discolouring, the laminated front is clean and undamaged and has retained its shape very well. The lamination is excellent and intact and there are no notable creases/splits whatsoever to report just mild and gentle folds. The cover is taking on the more familiar cream colour as opposed to bright white – just fab. All edges are secure; overall an excellent example of this very delicate sleeve. To be honest, in terms of the front, I’ve not seen too many that are better for this album.
Cover Back: EX; the laminated back is in EX condition being essentially clean and damage free with minimal age related marks. Inside the gate-fold cover is clean and undamaged.
Spine: VG; the spine is intact, clean with good lamination cover. It has a more concave shape, that is to say the spine has inverted although all the text is very legible and clear. No tears are rips at all.
Corners: VG; little bumped and slight wear but retaining square edges.
Top Openers: a few bumps and dings but nothing to drastic at all; essentially fairly straight and in good order.
Inserts/Other: Original black inners which are in VG- condition with a few rips and tears; all four pics are present in VG+ condition as is the poster in unmarked – folded condition. The poster has the small Lennon naked doodle which I think was blanked on later editions – or is that another Beatle urban myth?
Summary: This is a stunner, cool cherry cream, nice apple tart, a real beauty and one that I’ve owned and cherished for many years. I bought it from a very reputable Beatles seller and I will include the original invoice. Good stuff like this, in this condition, doesn’t present itself too often and it’s certainly going to get more difficult to find it in the future. You truly do not come across this particular LP in good shape too often, covers are inevitably tatty and at least one disc in the pair is less playable than the other, this copy, however, is very worthy of the EX- grade allocated. So, here’s your chance to grab a fab copy of a fab album.
Postage: With regard to postage, all records will be posted in 12” Defenda- corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me.
