Description
Would be interested to hear from anyone else in the UK who has this as a vinyl single . I was told that the listed copy originally came from the Bihari Brothers [ founders of Modern Records in LA & Meteor in Memphis ] jukebox operation . Makes sense as the side that would generate plays containing the word juke box had been marked in red despite it being the intended B side . Presumably to direct the guys who collected the cash & serviced the machines in the right direction . Dead wax numbering go along with this .. U-208-45 for ' Fiddle Bop ' / U-209-45 for ' Jukebox Help Me Find My Baby ' . Credited to The Rhythm Rockers it is actually one Sidney Louie Gunter Jr. better known to his friends [ who included Sam Philips ] as Hardrock Gunter [ look him up as it gets even more interesting ] . The multiple dub recording was first cut in West Virginia then leased to Sun Records . Once Sam had got his hands on the master & realised that replicating the sound was impossible he edited it to a length that would please radio stations & jukebox operators then put it out . Unfortunately Hardrock didn’t have the hit he was promised but had to wait until 1995 until a new generation in Europe brought him out of retirement . A pioneer who’s later years were rewarded by standing ovations at rockabilly festivals died a happy man aged 88 in 2013 . A record for the true collector . No reserve so best bid & it’s yours .
