ORNE, known as Mesmer between 1997 and 2002, is a dark progressive group who play sorrowful music with a touch of folk, doom, and beauty. This seven-piece is more or less located to the city of Turku, Finland, and has all three members of doom metal group Reverend Bizarre within the lineup that performs the album. The key influences are Van der Graaf Generator, Black Widow, early Genesis, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath. Guitar player, once baptized Kimi Kärki and also known to some as Peter Vicar, writes the songs to reflect his interests that on this album include horror, the occult, history, war, childhood memories and religion. Fire is the element of power, it consumes but does also create, it is always restless, always hungry. Hail Victory, Hail Ever-Burning Rosicrucian Lamps & Watch-Towers of the Elements! AMEN!

A few words to end all words, from the crypt, located somewhere in Albion:

I'm often asked to perform on many artists’ albums (far too many for me to be able to please everyone). A few months ago I received a request by the group ORNE to appear on their debut album, unfortunately this is not possible due to previous commitments.

Upon listening to their pre-production demo I was struck by the wonderful songs and beautiful melodies that came floating to my ears. In many ways they reminded me of my early days with BLACK WIDOW.

I feel that "The Conjuration by the Fire" will be a classic debut album and one that will be played for many years to come. I hope to be asked to play on future releases it will be an honour to play with such talented musicians.

I wish Kimi and the group every success.

- Clive Jones (Black Widow / Agony Bag)
