Description

THE VINYL IS IN NEAR MINT/VG++ CONDITION WITH A FEW LIGHT MARKS, PLAYS GREAT. THE SLEEVE IS IN VG CONDITION WITH CLEAR TAPE RESIDUE ALONG ONE SIDE.

STOP THE WAR / SEXY LADY ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by ORO. Original Italian pressing on the FANS label (G 69), from 1977. Underground, disco funk sleaze by a mysterious studio group from Naples (?) and an amazing double-sider. Basically, an Italian group doing a very impressive attempt at US style disco funk. Anti war / call for peace / quasi-political vocals sung in broken English on STOP THE WAR with an aggressive / stoned sounding groove to die for. Huge sub bassline / demonic synthesizer hooks / looped beats / funky breaks etc etc. Infectious horn section too. Great for DJs. Booming dub production and absolutely punishing over a club sound system. The SEXY LADY side is more bump 'n' hustle / uptempo boogie orientated with early Brass Construction motifs and Doobie Brothers style lead vocals. Indie disco / off-kilter funk sounds with more killer basslines / wigged-out synth motifs and crazy percussion break :) Rare 45.
