Description
In 1982, Ozzy Osbourne's record company Jet Records wanted a live album, but there was a catch. The title HAD to be 'Speak of the Devil', and Ozzy did NOT want Randy Rhoads' guitar playing on an album with that name, as Randy had passed away earlier that same year. So, he hired Brad Gillis from the band Night Ranger, recorded all Black Sabbath music for the record, and went on tour to promote 'Speak of the Devil'. (That tour was the first time I saw Ozzy in concert. But definitely not the last!)
To help promote the album, Ozzy and Jet released a special 7" picture disc for two songs. The A side is the Sabbath song "Symptom of the Universe", and a pic of Ozzy performing. The song titles and credits are also on the A side. The B side track is the classic Sabbath track "N.I.B.", with a wild pic of Ozzy head-banging, and some rather strange artwork all around it!
The vinyl itself looks pretty good, but with a few light surface marks on both sides. Nothing bad, and hardly noticable. (I can't vouch for the sound quality, as I never play specialty vinyl such as pic discs or colored records.) The colors are still nice and bright, and this is an awesome vintage 80s Ozzy collectible to have!
Ozzy just got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame again. He was originally indicated in 2009 with Black Sabbath, and this year he got in again, with his solo career. (Only a few people, like Paul McCartney, for example, have made it in twice. Only one artist has ever made it in THREE times. And that's Eric Clapton!) Ozzy has been around since the first Sabbath album in 1970, through '79 (and the 'Never Say Die' album), then he left to start his own band. He's made some incredible music through the years, and has worked with some amazing artists. Ozzy's music will always be a part of the soundtrack of our lives!
