Rarity: a moderate rarity for the band let’s be clear on this first point. The album followed what seemed like an eternity at the time, being released two years after the 1997 ‘Marchin’ Already’ album in September 1999. It was clear that the gap was way too long, and the commercial impetus was lost, and whilst the album charted respectively at number 4 in the UK, the singles saw a significant tailing off in success, with the first single ‘Profit in Peace’ being the highest charting single at number 13. I do remember having to track down a copy of the Digi-pack CD and the vinyl on the day of release, and I eventually tracked down a copy of the vinyl in a Hampshire ‘Virgin’ store on that hot September day, and I have left the sticker on the outer cover. I am not clear just how many Island printed up of this pressing on vinyl, and I would think similar to the MCA pressings which tended to be 2,000 units. So, these albums do come up, and yet again it’s all about the condition!

Condition: the first thing that I would like to point out is that this vinyl set was not ever released in shrink-wrap – what Island did is ship the record set in a thick and fairly brittle outer plastic sleeve, which was designed to be accessed by the left-hand opening. If you are selling / buying this record without this outer cover, this is not a complete ‘day of release’ set! The outer gatefold cover is a decent thickness card with a nice ‘sheen’ a quite hard wearing, and this copy is in superb condition! Beautifully preserved and other than a tiny ‘dink’ on the rear spine, and the tiniest 2mm wear point on the lower left hand of the panel this is just a lovely cover. The cover is excellent plus (+) condition all the way!! As per MCA releases, there is a fragile glossy paper booklet attached via two fragile staples. This is in superb condition; the book is completely unhandled and still perfectly attached via the staples to the lovely ‘wide spine’ Island cover. The records are housed in delicate paper unlined plain die-cut sleeves. Both have very minor creasing and inners are in excellent condition. The vinyl’s play at 45rpm and I played this album all the way through on my Rega 6 deck. All four sides played to a high standard with no defects to note. All four sides visually showing minimal signs of handling, the lightest of hairlines (no doubt linked to the unforgiving paper sleeves), and a couple of minor finger-marks. Play grade and vinyl visual condition are a minimum excellent condition.
