Description

ARTISTE, RECORD TITLE  AND LABEL

THE OCTOBER CHERRIES "Dreamseller"

Baal Records BCO 3002 (pressed in Singapore )

The current issue of Record Collector ie cover dated September featured a Malaysian psych LP, which I sold last week on Ebay and 2 from Singapore in its survey of psych recordings from around the world. Interestingly both the Singapore ones were by The October Cherries. I have sold the Truck LP sometime last year to a Canadian buyer on a private basis. This is Dreamseller LP, the second of their output featured in that magazine. Its can also be considered a sort of a seminal recording in that not only is the jacket rather gimmicky in that there is fold open 2 page booklet at the center of the front, but the recordings are a sort of a concept experiment with underlying themes in the various tracks. Both of these innovations by a local group was considered ahead of the times locally. The lead singer/band leader ie Jay Shotam was heavily influenced by the Beatles, which shows in some of the tracks  especially in the 4th track of side 1. A point for pursuers of triviality is that the record label ie Baal Records is named after Jay's brother, Balram who not only owned the label but also produced the group. It is housed in a gatefold jacket laminated at both the front and back and with the glued booklet at the center of the front (see results of my grading below).

Buyers please note that I try to describe as well as I could. However, some potential bidders have asked for grading and I have tried  to do so. In this respect, as both RRPG and Goldmine grading systems seem not in sync, I have drawn up my own which is indicated below after my grading results and I suggest that one reads that too.

UK buyers also please note that  I am based in Singapore but the system assumes that as a seller on Ebay,UK should indicate a UK postage cost of 4GBP which may not even cover surface postage let alone registration (ie tracking). Please read my shipping section below.

Bidders who are viewing this on Ebay, US & Canada please note that I originally listed this under Ebay, UK where I ticked the item condition as 'used'. I did exercise the option of listing it under Ebay, US & Canada(for a fee of course!). Somehow, these listings are appearing under Ebay US & Canada as 'like new' and I can't seem to change it under that site . It should read as 'used'.
