Description

10 inch 78 RPM record

Odeon 16456 Pasquale Taraffo SERENATA ESPANOLA / COCKTAIL Condition: EE+. Interesting title and composition, fine performance, great condition...any other copies of this record? Recorded in Spain? Buenos Aires? Early to mid-1920s. From the library of someone who provided music during silent films.

Somehow I had connected cocktails with flappers and Prohibition, and thought it was a 20th Century invention. But the first mention of cocktails in print was 1806. Back then it was touted as a good drink for political convention goers, being able to mask irregularities in the base while rendering the imbibers louder and stupider.
