Description

ORIGINAL PRESSING MARKERS ----- - Original 1961 US mono pressing on New Jazz (Prestige) - Deep groove both sides (confirmed by touch) - Purple and silver New Jazz labels with 203 S. Washington Ave.,   Bergenfield N.J. address - RVG stamp in the dead wax on both sides (Rudy Van Gelder master) - Hand-etched matrix: NJLP 8255 A / NJLP 8255 B - Van Gelder recording, Esmond Edwards supervision
THE MUSIC ----- One of the great Nelson/Dolphy pairings, recorded March 1, 1961 - just weeks after the Blues and the Abstract Truth session. Nelson and Dolphy trade alto, tenor, bass clarinet, and flute over the Wyands/Duvivier/Haynes rhythm section. Includes Images, Six and Four, Ralph's New Blues, and the furious title track.
CONDITION ----- VINYL: VG+ (visual grade). Glossy with light hairlines visible under strong raking light, a few scattered light scuffs, and one short faint diagonal line on Side A that does not catch a fingernail. Labels are clean and bright. Prior owner (careful collector, original notes retained) graded this copy VG++ with the note "great sound." Graded conservatively from visual inspection.
JACKET: Strong VG. Strong front with deep color. Honestly disclosed flaws: paper loss and light staining at the top left of the back cover near the seam, corner wear with small chips at front corners, light edge wear, and a small vintage pencil date "3-1-61" on the back. No writing otherwise, spine text readable. Photos show all flaws - please review them closely.
