Ora - Knick-Knacks (Metronome Ger 1969) AKA Same (Tangerine)
Wonderful one-off LP by this UK band and a lost classic to my ears. Ranging from baroque folk pop in the vein of Give Me Take You by Duncan Browne, through phased psychedelic folk of 'Fly' to the heavy psych echo-laden 'Witch'. The imaginative high quality songwriting is what really stands out and this is an LP to listen to from beginning to end without having to skip a duffer. A great LP that spans psych, prog and folk.
This is the German original, the only country outside of the UK to released it. Metronome chose to give it a new title and cover for some reason. The good news is this is an excellent pressing, superior to the UK Tangerine pressing which is known to suffer from distortion, surface noise and even skips. You can read about it in subsequent interviews given by the band. This is also in quite stunning condition.
Grading
Sleeve: VG+. Nice fully laminated sleeve is in very nice condition, still vibrant with the laminate uncreased and not worn. It is only marred by the small deletion punch hole which has caused a very small torn area on the front - see pics. There is also some wear to corners. Spine is nice and fully readable. A nice but not mint example.
Record: The record looks stunning, very close to M-. No spindle marks at all and even under bright light no marks that I can see, perhaps just the whispiest of scuffs. It plays very nicely, with just a little light noise here and there.
Grading
M- As new, no marks of any kind whatsoever.
EX Perhaps a few featherlight whispy marks, but no scratches or deterioration in sound
VG+ Some light marks on the vinyl, but nothing that should cause clicks or pops, just occasional light surface noise.
VG Some heavier marks and maybe a few scratches that will cause some noise, but will still be a very enjoyable listen with definitely no sticks or skips or constant surface noise.
