Description
I've owned this since I bought it in, I'm fairly certain, 1958, in the hamlet of Far Rockaway in Queens, NY, from a store on Central Ave. called Dee Jay records.
I had had it on order and wanted it as soon as it came out. Was crazy about them. Had just started collecting records and didn't have some of their early sides.
I even vaguely remember paying for it on time because the, I believe, $3.98 price, was more than I could handle at once.
It has been played and there are some condition issues: There is a small skip on side 1, track 2, The Plea; a skip on side 1, track 6, He's Gone;
some "pops" (I believe they're called) on side 2, tracks 1 and 5; also on side 1 the needle doesn't automatically return from the "run-off". Apart from these flaws,
it sounds still great. I don't hear any hissing or scratchiness elsewhere. Love that piano player.
The cover, though quite clean (that's a light glare you see above the H) is holding on to the back in just 2 places on the top and bottom for a few inches (though I'm glad
I never taped it with some awkward masking or scotch tape............it is now being protected with a mylar envelope made for the purpose), and the back cover has some
little yellowing, mostly at the bottom. Retains it's original paper liner, though that does have some tape and missing pieces.
I am willing to take it back if you buy and are dissatisfied or find my description inaccurate in any way.
International bids welcome but I will have to find out how much postage.
