I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING! Another fake/bootleg or later issue of this Beatles Vee Jay LP. BUT, THAT’S NOT THE CASE WITH THE LP IN THIS AUCTION!!! This LP is the REAL DEAL from 1964. Read on and find out how we know.

This LP is Vee Jay Records PRO 202. (It is not a Promo Pressing as “PRO” often designates.)

It is a MONO (Monaural) PRESSING.

This VJ Interview LP was released in November of 1964.

Side 1 has an interview with John Lennon, and the label has the printing: “Interviews by Jim Steck and Dave Hull” and “Jim Steck Interviews John Lennon”.

Side 2 has an interview with the members of the band, and the label has the printing: “Interviews by Jim Steck and Dave Hull” and “Dave Hull Interviews John, Paul, George, Ringo”.

THIS LP IS A REAL (TRUE) 1964 PRESSING!!! How do we know? Here is the identifying information from Perry Cox and Frank Daniels:

Genuine covers, like the one in this auction, have “PRO 202” printed on the front and rear cover at the top right corners. (If “STEREO” is on the cover, the LP is a later issue from 1979 and that LP is actually NOT in stereo).

The cover has printing on the spine that reads “PRO 202” and “HEAR THE BEATLES TELL ALL”

The vinyl has a black label with rainbow color band and brackets VJ logo.

The labels have “VJLP 202 PRO” printed on them.

I often see MANY copies of this Vee Jay LP title for sale at record shows and used vinyl stores, and they are being sold as the original 1964-1965 pressing. But they have “STEREO” printed on the cover, so they are 1979 re-issues of the LP OR fake/bootleg copies. So, DON’T BE FOOLED!

The COVER would be graded in VG+ CONDITION; however, there is a small rectangular sticker stain and small surface tear on it that would lower the grade some. There are NO seam splits, NO flaking on the seams/edges, NO writing and NO ring wear on the cover. There is some very light aging/”foxing” on the rear cover slick. The cover has very small “pushes” on all four corners and a little bit of “balding” on the corner at the base of the spine. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE IMAGES, THE COVER STILL LOOKS VERY NICE, CLEAN and WHITE!!!

The VINYL is in NICE NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION and VERY GLOSSY. It looks like a small rectangular sticker was removed from the Side 1 label, and there is a small light scuff near the spindle hole on the side 2 label.
Overall, it’s a NICE COPY of this ORIGINAL BEATLES VEE JAY LP, A GENUINE 1964 PRESSING, to add to your vinyl collection.

These grades are Poor (P), Fair (F), Good Minus (G-), Good (G), Good Plus (G+), Very Good Minus (VG-), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Near Mint Minus or Very Good++ (NM- or VG++), Near Mint (NM), Mint Minus (M-), and Mint (M or MT) to VISUALLY GRADE this LP, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding.
