J And J LP - JESUS 'N JANN (no label MK 37-139)
Original 197? (very early '70s is my suspicion, due to the 'Jesus Fish' artwork on the front cover) stereo LP. 9 tracks, including: "To Be Nobody Else," "The Joy Of The Lord," "They'll Know We Are Christians," "Be Aglow (With The Spirit)," "Evening Of Life," more. Very nice and totally unknown (as far as I know) private Christian folk album from St. Louis, Missouri. JANN sings (ocassionally doubling her voice), plays acoustic guitar & is accompanied on some of the tracks by a second acoustic and a subtle electric bass playing as few notes as possible. Two of the songs also include a cool, 'less-is-more' banjo part which is used mainly for texture, not as a solo instrument. NO drums or electric guitar. (No liner info to indicate any of the musical personnel, unfortunately, not even JANN's last name.) Her vocals are the LPs highlight to these ears, soft & melancholy for the most part. Record is way under the radar, in both the folk & Christian vinyl community, I do believe. Highly recommended for fans/collectors in both groups.
Disc = Looks EX (just a bit of lite hairlines, probably from not being stored in an inner sleeve), but plays better - SOUNDS GREAT / Cover = IN SHRINK; front - slight upper & lower right corner wear, very slight right edge wear; back - A-OK; slight wear on bottom right edge where about 1" of shrink is torn / Labels = very faint spindle marks around center hole, a couple extending out to label edge
