Description
Here's an original, sepia-toned 8" x 10" publicity photo of violinist/bandleader Eddie South. He has signed and inscribed it in fountain pen as follows: "To Big Steve/All the best/for a grand fellow/Sincerely/Eddie South/5/23/40/N.Y. City."
Overall, the photo is in very good condition, but please note the following. There is a one-inch vertical crease in the bottom border, to the right of the words "Eddie South and his Orchestra," not affecting the image. The back bears remnants of some black paper to which the photo once was affixed. Lastly, there is some variation in the photo's background colors, mainly near South's head. The variation was may be the result of careless storage or a deliberate design, reminiscent of late-20s Okeh Records artwork (see last photo). Whatever it is, the photo looks fine.
