Original Small Faces LP By the Small Faces - in VG Cond on RED Unboxed Decca

Hi All, its been some time since I put a few records up for auction, however, I have my eye set on one of those recently issued George Harrison Gretsch’s so the thinning out of my collection has been resurrected to fund the latest itch.   I’ve sorted out a few choice cuts in the collection for your consideration as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting.  OK for your consideration we have:

Issue: Original 1966 issue on the Unboxed Red DECCA Label

Vinyl Condition visual: The vinyl grades as VG+; the vinyl has retained much of its gloss and deep sheen but there are one or two scratches and marks to the vinyl and some very light and mild surface marks commensurate with age and grade. The disc is however, very clean and all in all, it’s a very presentable copy of this highly desirable album.  

Vinyl Condition Playback: The vinyl grades as VG; Some very occasional and low level/mild clicks/pops during play-back– nothing too drastic and certainly nothing that distracts from enjoying the music even when wearing headphones as I was when test playing.  The vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable.

Label Condition: Ex; just look at the pics.  Just a few very light spindle marks but aside from this there is no damage or other unwanted blemishes at all to the labels. The silver script is very clean and legible. 

Cover Front: The front cover grades as VG+; the laminated front is clean and undamaged and has retained its shape very well.  The central image is clear and the lamination is excellent and intact. However, there is a ripple in the front cover at bottom right at the opening edge.  If it wasn’t for this the sleeve would be a strong EX.  Some mild and I mean very mild ring-wear starting to show (when held to the light) there are no other notable creases/splits to report.   All edges are secure; overall a VG example of this very delicate sleeve. Again despite the ripple I’ve not seen too many over the yrs that are much better.

Cover Back: VG+; the unlaminated back is in VG+ condition being clean and essentially damage free.  The white areas are surprisingly clean, however, there is some very minor age related rubbing/blemishes in one or two places but absolutely nothing too serious at all and all commensurate with age and grade.

Spine: EX; the spine is intact, clean with good lamination cover. It has retained much of its square shape and all the text is very legible and clear.  

Corners: VG+; very mild and gentle knocks but mostly retaining square edges. 

Inserts/Other: nil

Summary:  Like the other SF album I have up for auction, I hadn’t played this LP for a few yrs. But when I test played it before listing it, it was a sheer joy to listen to.   The music is fab and these guys could play and deliver. The album itself is a real beauty and one that I’ve owned and cherished for many years. Good stuff like this, in this condition, doesn’t present itself too often and it’s certainly going to get more difficult to find in the future. You truly do not come across Small Faces albums in good shape too often and believe me this copy is in VG condition overall despite the area of ripple to the front cover.   With regard to postage, all records will be posted in 12” Defenda- corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me.
