Description
Here's an original Northern Soul Promo 45 by The Valentines on Sound Stage 7 label # SS7-2663.Songs titled Breakaway on one side with the song If You Love Me on the other side.This record is a case of a record looking very nice but not playing as good as it looks.The Breakaway side has a total of six skips/jumps during play.I'm not sure what causes the skips.Has a small scratch which is feelable that goes into the first three grooves at the beginning of song.This scratch may account for the first three skips as the first three are right near beginning of song.I also see two very tiny pit marks on about the 10th and 12th groove which also may be the cause.These are so small I had to look at them with a magnifying glass loupe to really get a good look.But at any rate there's three skips right near beginning of song.I don't see any scratches or pits that cause the last three.The fourth skip is near middle of song and last two are about a minute later.Has a total of six skips.The skips are pretty fast and aren't groove slides.In between the skips the song plays very well with no background noise.I find the skips odd as looking at the side there's maybe 3 very light scratches and 3 very light scuffs.Does have the small feelable scratch and two very tiny pit marks as well near beginning.The grooves have some graying which is a mixture of black and gray as it's not badly grayed.Still has good shine on grooves.The If You Love Me side looks very nice.Has two very small feelable scratches and a couple of very light scratches that are hard to find because they're so light.Small amount of very light scuffing.Side has some groove wear with some graying starting to show in grooves.Still has a good amount of black mixed in and grooves still have nice shine.I played this on two different record players and the breakaway side skipped on both players so it's not my needle.But still a sought after Northern Soul classic.
