Beautiful original U.S. pressing of this historic jazz LP. Ornette Coleman - "The Shape of Jazz to Come." Atlantic 1317.  Fantastic jazz date from 1959.  A groundbreaking LP featuring two of the torch bearers of the avant-garde -- Ornette Coleman and Don Cherry.  The masterful, lyrical bassist, Charlie Haden, anchors it all. Also featuring Billy Higgins.  Vinyl is NM and unplayed (except for the spot play grading for this listing). LP plays great -- as new, NM. Vinyl is heavy and lustrous. "A" stamper indication in the matrix. The cover is beautiful heavy stock and is in NM condition. Front and back graphics are great.  Slight, attractive toning on the whites.  No splits or fraying on edges.

This is an All Music Guide Five-Star LP.  Historic.  Per All Music Guide – “Ornette Coleman's Atlantic debut, The Shape of Jazz to Come, was a watershed event in the genesis of avant-garde jazz, profoundly steering its future course and throwing down a gauntlet that some still haven't come to grips with.”

A top, collectible copy. Archiveable and likely as nice a total package as you will find for this title.
