Here, with Herb Ellis on guitar and Ray Brown on bass, Oscar Peterson pays tribute to Nat King Cole with a reverence not often found on LPs.

Fact is, on all but one cut, Oscar sings in the tradition of Nat, too, and does so brilliantly, on WHEN MY SUGAR WALKS DOWN THE STREET, SWEET LORRAINE, LITTLE GIRL, CALYPSO BLUES, UNFORGETTABLE, GEE BABY AIN’T I GOOD TO YOU, STRAIGHTEN UP AND FLY RIGHT, and EASY LISTENING BLUES, among others.

A most unique outing, this the Limelight Japanese re-issue, the finest pressing available: In a cover with a hint of ring (and a slice); Japanese pressing inside is near mint.

Best Nat King Cole tribute I have ever heard.
