Description
I specialize in lost, atmospheric, and hypnotic 45s. Grading is done conservatively, visually. Check unaltered sound clips. I currently have a number of cool popcorn, soul, mambo, rockabilly, garage, R&B, country, surf, boogaloo, blues, funk, psychedelic, Balearic, modern soul, sunshine pop, mod, weirdo wave, heavy/hard rock, exotica, gospel, and oddball instrumental 45 obscurities up for grabs. And, in addition to tons of great 45s from greater Texas and Louisiana, I've listed some cool and weird Xmas-related discs this week.
ARTIST: The Islanders
TITLE: Forbidden Island / City Under the Sea
LABEL: Mayflower
CONDITION: Strong VG+ (Gorgeous.)
Nautical genius and popcorn exotica pulsations from Pittsburgh's under-the-sea kings, 1960. Cavernous echo, theremin, booming tremolo guitar dramatics, haunting wordless choruses, and, for that extra frisson, a passel of over-the-top sound effects and giggly beach blanket antics. "Forbidden Island" only saw release as a 45, but it's cut from the same cloth as the exceptional Enchanted Sounds of the Islanders, an LP of Space Age combo exotica that invokes artists like the Three Suns, Martin Denny, and Santo and Johnny.
