• PABLO CASALS •

• Pablo Casals (katalan. Cellist, Komponist & Dirigent; eigtl. Pau Casals; 1876–1973)

To all eBay users worldwide:

PABLO CASALS

• „BACKSTAGE“ AT PRADES FESTIVAL / MOLITG-LES BAINS, SUMMER 1961! •

• I’m offering 13 x 18 cm photo prints of 10 UNPUBLISHED photos from an „after show reception“ at PABLO CASALS’ home in Molitg-les-Bains (Prades Festival, Summer 1961).

• To my knowledge, these pictures were not taken at the festival itself, but at Casals’ private home in Molitg-les-Bains (near Prades) instead, where he rehearsed in semi-public.

• Judging from the sweatiness of several musicians depicted, these photos must have been taken immediately after a concert performance or a concert rehearsal.

Pictured are the following persons:

• Pablo Casals (aka Pau Casals; Catalan./Spanish cello player, composer & conductor; 1876–1973)

• Sándor Végh (Hungarian violinist and conductor; 1912–1997)

• Wilhelm Walter Friedrich Kempff (German pianist & composer; 1895–1991)

• Rudolf von Tobel (Swiss cellist, publicist, Casals’ assistant  & author of C.’s biography; 1903–1995)

• Marta „Martita“ Angélica Casals Montañez y Martinez [Istomin] (Puerto Rican third wife of Pablo Casals; 1936–today)

• Enric[o] Casals i Defilló (Pablo Casals’ brother; violinist, composer & conductor; 1892–1986)

• Helene Freiin Hiller von Gaertringen Kempff (Wilhelm Kempff’s wife; 1908–1986)

• Elisabeth Gabriele Valérie Marie Dutchess in Bavaria, later
H. R. H. Queen Elisabeth of Belgium (Patronesse of Brussel’s „Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Competition“ [„Concours Musical Reine Elisabeth“]; 1876–1965)

• a German visitor and photographer of this particular event
