Barber's second Blue Note release is a compilation of live tracks recorded in three French cities in 2004. The Quartet features Patricia on piano and vocals, Neal Alger on guitar, Michael Arnopol on bass, and Eric Montzma on drums. Tunes include "Gotcha", "Crash", "Laura", "Call Me" among others on this 2 LP gatefold edition mastered by Bernie Grundman on Classic's "all tube" cutting system and made available on 200g Quiex Super Vinyl Profile pressings. This is a great live recording by a great Jazz singer and as such an audiophile must have! Highest Recommendations.
Barber performs live in France with her outstanding quartet delighting listeners with a mix of original compositions and standards including "Witchcraft," "Call Me" and "Norwegian Wood."
Recorded in March and April 2004 at clubs in three French cities (L’Arsenal in Metz, La Coursive in La Rochelle and La Cigale in Paris), Live: A Fortnight In France is her eighth release, and offers further proof that Patricia Barber is at the vanguard of the new school of jazz singer/songwriters who are continuing to explore intriguing improvisational terrain.
