Description
“Born to be Alive” - Official American Music Industry Award
This is a genuine American music industry Gold Award for 1,000,000 sales of the single ‘Born to be Alive’. It was presented in 1979 to the music director of Boston radio station WRKO. The award measures 12x15 inches (31x39cms) and is in very good condition, with just some slight lifting on the label. The plaque mounted on the award reads:

This award was produced in Burbank, California by Dejay Products, an official RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) award manufacturer. This style of award was made by the company for a number of US record labels, prior to them getting authorization to produce RIAA awards in the mid 1980s. These awards were only presented within the music industry, and should not be confused with any kind of replica or ‘limited edition’ discs that are sold direct to the public.
An incredibly rare piece of memorabilia for this Disco classic.
