PATRIZIA SCASCITELLI QUARTET Lp. Original Italian pressing on the EDIZIONI DI CULTURA POPOLARE label (LP 0005), from 1975. Outstanding, private press Italian bossa / indie jazz set led by the cult, female pianist with group. For sure, Scascitelli's finest moment on wax. Recorded at the Nuove Tendenze Del Jazz Italiano festival in November 1975. Her set includes an amazing version of the Kenny Dorham standard, BLUE BOSSA. Serious jazz collectors who know it, will agree that this one totally destroys any other contemporary version out there. A deadly live take, that trips-out into the upper strata with infectious tumba / congas and piano explorations against lyrical tenor sax solos and freestyle Brazilian drums. That said, the TOMMY SEVEN and RIKY theme are even better and should blow you away too :) Funky cubop / afro tinged jazz with superb musicianship and enthusiastic shouts. Big record with certain Japanese DJs. Top jazz-dance / hard bop with a groove to die for. Top production sound. Lovely sleeve artwork (front and back). Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall with a few hairlines / faint scuffs from sleeve removal. Light surface noises. A few soft pops / ticks (as you can hear on the soundclip). Item most probably unplayed prior to the recording of our soundclip. The soft card sleeve is in strong VG++ condition overall with a little ring creasing and some corner wear (mostly to the bottom spine side area). A few small wear marks to edges. Sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Rare Lp!!!
