Patty's legendary lost album, Shelved and abandoned by the label during the great record label consolidation of the early 2000s, finally brought to light.
Between the time the album was  originally recorded and it's delayed, eventual release, some of these songs were covered and released, to great success
by Natalie Maines on her own (the title track  "Silver Bell" on her album 'Mother') and the Dixie Chicks as a group, with "Top of the World" and "Truth #2".

SILVER BELL is simultaneously inward and explosive, a record that goes deep, rewarding close listening. Griffin may have gotten a little more accessible not much later, but it's hard to hear Silver Bell and not think of it as a compelling transitional LP that's the missing piece of the puzzle, the moment when Patty Griffin inadvertently learned that the hard road not only resulted in a rewarding journey, but it was the road she was destined to take.
