PAUL CHAMBERS "Bass On Top" Blue Note 1569, DG, P, RVG, Laminated, Mono Vinyl
This is the first edition, 1957, "RVG"-stamped, Deep Groove, Laminated Cover, "P"-pressing of PAUL CHAMBERS' "Bass On Top" n the "47 West 63rd" labels of Blue Note BLP 1569. Musicians include Paul Chambers - bass, Hank Jones - piano, Kenny Burrell - guitar, Art Taylor - drums.
VINYL plays with low to medium level consistent surface noise (i.e, static, ?? or ????,relative to the volume of the music/instruments) with ticks and pops noticeable in bass solos. Ensemble Instrumental sections are dynamic and strong with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. Intermittent Crackles present in ballads. No Skips. No Distortion. Good vinyl gloss. Many faint hairline marks, at least 4 feelable to fingertip. The "47 West 63rd " labels are worn but clean, spindle wear. Cigarette burn run-in groove Side 2. See photos.
The LAMINATED COVER is taped on all sides. Worn corners. Laminate peeling at opening. Spine has 2" split at top. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 47 West 63rd St., New York 23" back jacket shows aging, wear, discoloration, handwritten pen "Russell Brown." Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters).
