Up for bids is a rare original Mono Jazz LP by bassist Paul Chambers called "Bass On Top" on Blue Note Records. BLP 1569. 1957.

ORIGINAL 1ST PRESSING WITH "47 West 63rd St., New York 23" ON BACK OF COVER'S BOTTOM-CENTER, AND WITH "47 WEST 63rd ? NYC" ON BOTH LABELS!

DEEP GROOVE PRESSING!

Record's edges are raised.

Both labels do NOT have the "?" symbol!

Front of cover is laminated.

Matrix (or trail-off) numbers have a stamped "RVG" then an etched "BN-LP-1569-A.." and finally the "EAR" for Side 1, and a stamped "RVG" then an etched "BN-LP-1569-B..." and finally the "EAR" for Side 2.

The grades I use are Mint (rarely used grade), Near Mint, VG+++ (rarely used grade), VG++, VG+, VG, VG Minus, Good+, Good, Fair and Poor.

Cover is in Good condition. There is some wear on front and back. Back also has some staining and some writing on the top-left corner. Back also has some heavy "chewing" by the center of opening (see photo). Bottom corner at opening is also chewed and has a 3" split. Spine is mostly all intact. Top of cover at opening has a 9" split which is held together by a small old piece of tape towards the opening. Cover is what it is.

I would rate the record’s condition as VG Minus to VG. Has some marks, minor wear and some scratches. Some are deep and will cause a tick. In particular, there are a set of small deep scratches at the beginning of Side 1 that do cause "ticking" for about a minute. Minor distortion in some spots as well (mainly during guitar solos). Record overall still sounds great on my player; like a classic Blue Note should!
