PAUL CHAMBERS QUINTET Blue Note 1564, “P”, “RVG”, DG, Original Mono Vinyl.
This is the 1957, first edition, DG, mono, “RVG” stamped, “P” pressing of the PAUL CHAMBERS QUINTET on the “47 West 63rd labels of Blue Note Records BLP 1564. Musicians include Paul Chambers, Donald Byrd, Clifford Jordan, Tommy Flanagan, Elvin Jones.
VINYL plays with consistent, low volume level surface noise, with pops and ticks. Many hairline marks, none feelable with fingertip. A feelable 2” scratch on Side 2 can be heard as a loud pop from the last quarter of #1 to the first quarter of #2. The Deep Grooved, “47 West 63rd” labels (No “R” under “Note”) are clean with spindle wear evident under direct light. See photos.
Front LAMINATED COVER is in good condition, aging; water damage lower right corner to opening. Spine in very good condition with cracking, no splits. Lower seam near opening shows water damage, no split. Top seam, minor wear at center, 1/4” split near opening. The “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 47 West 63rd St., New York 23” back jacket shows writing in ink, water stains/damage at lower jacket and corners. See photos!
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers.
