Description

PAUL CHAMBERS QUINTET - with Donald Byrd, Cliff Jordan, Tommy Flanagan, & Elvin Jones LP (Blue Note Records BLP 1564, US)
Very rare original Blue Note 47 West 63rd pressing. Deep groove with the "ear" and RVG in the runoff. This was not repressed throughout the 60s and 70s as with most Blue Note titles. An amazing session featuring the rhythm section of John Coltrane.
I do grade conservatively.  A solid copy overall.  I did play-grade this one on my Micro Seiki DD40... marvelous full sound with only the slightest hint of surface noise and one spot that clicks lightly 9 times. Mostly play-grades VG+ or better.  I did focus the photos on the issues with the cover, but as you can see from the full front and back, it looks very nice overall.  The spine and seams are nice and tight.
RECORD: VG (some faint hairlines and scuffs, no deep scratches) COVER: VG (some spots of staining and beginning of a split at the opening top - see photos)
Some of the records have reflections in the photo of the label.  These are NOT marks or scratches on the records.
Tracklist: A1 Minor Run-Down A2 The Hand Of Love A3 Softly As The Morning Sunrise B1 Four Strings B2 What's New B3 Beauteous
Recorded At – Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, New Jersey Credits: Bass – Paul Chambers Design [Cover] – Tom Hannan Drums – Elvin Jones Liner Notes – Robert Levin Piano – Tommy Flanagan Producer – Alfred Lion Recorded By [Recording By] – Rudy Van Gelder Tenor Saxophone – Cliff Jordan* (tracks: A1 to A3, B2, B3) Trumpet – Donald Byrd (tracks: A1 to A3, B2, B3) Notes: Recorded on May 19, 1957.

Please see my other listings for more rare rock (Beatles, Rolling Stones) and jazz (Blue Note, Riverside, Prestige, etc)  LPs.
VISUALLY GRADED UNDER A 100 WATT BULB. I ALSO SPOT PLAY THE LPS.
I have been a record collector and a respected dealer for over 20 years. I grade conservatively on a scale of:  SEALED, NM, EX, VG+, and VG. I generally won't sell anything under VG unless it is particularly unique or hard to find. NM: means it looks basically new, perhaps with the sort of negligible wear a record would get after a week in a store; vinyl is shiny with no marks whatsoever. I use this grade sparingly. EX: means light wear to vinyl or sleeve, nothing significant. VG+: means a solid copy with minor signs of wear and the possibility of occasional surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still quite nice. VG: a typical used copy with obvious signs of wear and likely light to moderate surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but does not overpower the music. NOT TRASHED!
