Description
Artist: Paul Chambers Sextet
Title: “Whims of Chambers”
Label: BLUE NOTE. Label is blue/white with blue text. Monaural pressing on thick vinyl with deep groove, does not have flat edge. Matrix number and “RVG” are etched in runout, with “ear” symbol on both sides. Catalog number is BLP 1534.
Side 1 label has “BLUE NOTE RECORDS 767 Lexington Ave N Y C” address.
Side 2 label has BLUE NOTE RECORDS * 47 WEST 63rd * NEW YORK 23” address.
“Frame” jacket states "For Complete Catalog Write to BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" on reverse at bottom.
Date: 1956.
Personnel: DONALD BYRD – trumpet; JOHN COLTRANE – tenor sax; KENNY BURRELL – guitar; HORACE SILVER – piano; PAUL CHAMBERS – bass; “PHILLY” JOE JONES - drums.
Condition:
DISC: Vinyl is NM- with 100% of original gloss, as clean as can be found. Appears to have been played one or two times at most, and handled with care. Would grade Near Mint except for the presence of a very, very slight storage warp to the disc – does NOT affect playing in any way. The sound quality and playback is superb. Labels are clean. A very fine playing copy of this scarce album.
JACKET: Jacket is nice VG+ to VG++. Front art work is nice and bright. Seams and spine are flawless. A tiny bit of wear can be found on the corner tips, and top right corner is bumped. Would grade overall Excellent except for the reverse where there is some discoloration with a grayish stain that affects only the surface. No writing, stickers, or other problems. Overall a very presentable jacket to accompany the beautiful disc.
