Description

From my personal collection, here is a scarce vintage jazz LP featuring PAUL CHAMBERS SEXTET on the BLUE NOTE label, from 1956.  Title is “WHIMS OF CHAMBERS.”  Catalog number is BLP 1534.  Monaural pressing.

Vinyl is thick with deep groove, does not have flat edge.  Matrix number is hand-etched, “RVG” is machine stamped in trailoff, with "ear" symbol on both sides.

Side 1 label has “BLUE NOTE RECORDS 767 Lexington Ave N Y C” address.

Side 2 label has BLUE NOTE RECORDS * 47 WEST 63rd * NEW YORK 23” address.

Jacket has "For Complete Catalog Write to BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" on reverse at bottom.

Personnel consist of the following:   DONALD BYRD – trumpet; JOHN COLTRANE – tenor sax; KENNY BURRELL – guitar; HORACE SILVER – piano; PAUL CHAMBERS – bass; “PHILLY” JOE JONES – drums.

Side 1:

  • Omicron (Byrd)
  • Whims of Chambers (Chambers)
  • Nita (Coltrane)

Side 2:

  • We Six (Byrd)
  • Dear Ann (Chambers)
  • Tale of the Fingers (Chambers)
  • Just For The Love (Coltrane)

Jacket:   Jacket would grade NM except for the reverse where the white has discoloured with a grayish stain that affects only the surface.  Front art work is nice and bright, with flawless spine, seams, and corners.   No writing, stickers, or other problems.  Overall a fine jacket despite the one flaw.

Vinyl:  Condition is gorgeous NEAR MINT.  Has full brilliant original gloss.  This came from a collection where most of the albums appear unplayed.  Fidelity is awesome.  Labels are flawless and pristine.  This disc literally looks like it just came home from the record shop.  I am confident the winning bidder will be extremely pleased.

For your convenience I accept most payment forms including PayPal and BidPay.  Personal checks also ok but require 5 business days for funds to clear.

I welcome international bidders, and I am happy to ship to anywhere in the world.

Shipping is $3.75 to anywhere in the U.S. via USPS media mail, (insurance, priority mail, and overseas shipping available at additional cost).

I pack all albums in sturdy cardboard custom mailers for safe shipment.  Write with any questions, check my feedback, and bid with confidence!  Good luck!
