Paul De Margerie, who died in 1968 at the young age of 37, was a pianist, composer and arranger who worked with many of Quebec's best artists during his short life. (notably Robert Charlebois, Jean Pierre Ferland, Hervé Brousseau, Raymond Levesque, Clémence Desrochers and Renée Claude). On this, his extremely difficult to find, long out-of-print, first and only solo long play, he handles all the arrangements and leads a star-studded jazz ensemble.
All in all, it's an impressive assemblage of Canadian (specifically, Quebecois) musical talent, and the end result is an album of impeccably-played instrumental jazz with a distinctly Francophone and Latin flavour. All of the musicians acquit themselves well, but special notice should be given to Ayoub's omni-present smooooth sax, Landry's particularly dextrous vibraphone and xylophone, Levesque's trumpet playing which shines throughout, and De Margerie's brilliant piano vibes.

Paul de Margerie est mort bien trop jeune.....il se suicidera en 1968 agé de seulement 37 ans.
Actif dans les années 60, il a surtout été arrangeur/compositeur pour certains chansonniers (Ferland, Charleboix, et Brousseau entre autre). Rarement a t'il interpreté ses propres compositions à part pour ce album jazz nommé "Calendar Date" de 1960.
