Paul McCartney and Wings - 'Helen Wheels / Country Dreamer'. R 5993

Paul McCartney 1973 UK 1st FACTORY SAMPLE DEMO pressing of the 'Helen Wheels / Country Dreamer' 7" single. Released on the 26th October 1973, and offered here fully complete with the original rare 'Wings' sleeve and comp slip. It is offered here in STUNNING EXCELLENT+/MINT- condition.

'Helen Wheels' was the name Paul gave to his Land Rover, and the song tells the story of a trip from Paul's Scottish farm down to London.

These initial early factory sample pressings would have usually been given out to reviewers, radio stations or used as quality control within the pressing plant. The addition of a date stamp and comp slip suggest this was destined for review purposes or radio play.

Released on the Apple Records label the a-side features a 'FACTORY SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE' sticker with the b-side featuring a release date stamp '26 OCT.'. The original yellow Wings sleeve is also in wonderful condition and features the date stamp '26 OCT.' and hand written catalogue number 'R 5993'. A wonderful addition to any Beatles or Apple collection.

Very unusually the b-side matrix contains an additional digit '4'. This SHOULD read as 7YCE 21735-1U so I imagine the extra digit is simply a pressing error of some kind.

Side 2. 7YCE 217354-1U 2 G T

The vinyl is in EXCELLENT+/MINT- condition.

Both labels are in MINT- condition.

The sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition.

The comp slip is in EXCELLENT condition.
