Paul McCartney & Wings released their fourth studio album "Venus And Mars" in May 1975. It was McCartney's sixth post-Beatles release and the first to be issued on Capitol Records rather than Apple Records. It hit No. 1 in the U.S. and around the world and was bolstered by singles "Listen To What The Man Said," "Letting Go," and "Venus And Mars/Rock Show."

This copy (SMAS-11419) is from the first pressing and is in excellent condition. The gatefold cover is still in its original factory shrink wrap and easily grades VG+ along with the color inner sleeve, planetary sticker, a pristine 30" x 20" poster from Paul & Linda's wedding in New Orleans, and a 30" x 20" Venus And Mars Are Alright poster. The disc test plays cleanly and is also VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. The dead wax is etched with 1-11419-F-5 Wly. It is stamped with Mastered By Capitol and the Wly etching stands for engineer Wally Traugott. The disc labels give McCartney Music, Inc. the copyright credit rather than MPL.

In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.

This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 45 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
