A LOST SOFT-POP GEM! Very rare 10", 45pm acetate of an unreleased songwriting demo sung by Paul Williams and composed by Roger Nichols with Paul Williams entitled "Have You Heard The News".  Acetate records like this one were sent out on behalf of Nichols / Williams by their publishers, Almo Music, to famous artists in hopes that they might wish to record the song in question and make it a hit. Nichols / Williams were at the peak of their powers in the early seventies when this disc was recorded, around the time they were writing hits for The Carpenters. Disc has some light, very minor, superficial smudges / marks but plays excellently and is in very nice condition on the whole. A must-have for any serious collectors of Nichols / Williams, Small Circle of Friends, Holy Mackerel & rare sunshine pop in general (and even you die-hard "Bugsy Malone" fans out there).
