Description

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A COPY OF THIS RECORD, YOU MAY BE CONFUSED AS TO THE DIFFERENT ISSUES OF IT AND
WHO COULD BLAME YOU. I'll try to sort out what I know

for years Ive watched a buncha people think they had an "original" of this 7" and try to sell it that way on ebay.

this record was (ALSO) REISSUED ON RECORD STORE DAY IN 2014 ON gold (not brown) VINYL,
ALSO, MANY  PRESSINGS INCLUDING  THE ORIGINAL ONE (all BLACK vinyl) APPEAR BROWNISH WHEN HELD UP TO BRIGHT LIGHT
THIS IS NOT "BROWN VINYL"  OR "ROOT BEER COLORED" VINYL AND IF YOU HOLD UP HALF OF THE 1000s OF 7"S MADE IN THE 1990s THEY WILL LOOK THE SAME COLOR WHEN HELD UP TO BRIGHT LIGHT.  ---this is not special. at all. back then we called it cheaply made vinyl. maybe it's not cheap. I don't really know. but there is NO "brown vinyl" version of this...unless every one of these ever made is "brown", geddit?

the early and later pressing of this 7" are almost indiscernible, everything about the sleeve and label and record remained the same as far as I can tell and I have personally ordered, handled and sold over 100 of these back in the 90s.... and unlike their first 7"--"Slay Tracks" which disappeared quickly especially after the Wedding Present covered a song on it and Albini gave them lip service at the same time,
Demo Plot J7 stayed in print and was almost always available for a looong time. the label kept repressing it, keeping it's value down and making it AVAILABLE. good for them, and the band, that they kept it in print, maybe until shortly after the comp of these early tracks came out. So there are loads of these out there, compared to "Slay Tracks"

but the easiest way to tell a 1st press were stamped on the inner sleeve "Thanks to M Ward" as this one is, (no not that M Ward) I know this is a first press as I got it the week it came out as I worked in a record store. It made me very happy and inspired me. I don't know how long they stamped the inner sleeves this way, but I imagine it was for one pressing.  At any rate it is a dividing line between early and later pressings of this record. If a copy does NOT have this stamped on inner, it is a later pressing or someone switched out the sleeve

woo woo
